Carlos Santana once opined that, “The most
valuable possession you can own is an open heart. The most powerful weapon you
can be is an instrument of peace.”
Selected trainees in Minna, Niger state,
showed their commitment to being weapons of peace when they converged at the Niger
State Book Development Agency on Tuesday, 24th September 2013, for the workshop on peace that is being
facilitated by the Centre for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy.
The event was declared open by Alh Abubakar
Garba Musa, representative of the Niger state chairman Fityanul Islam
Association of Nigeria. He used the platform to condemn politicians who use youths to incite
violence and lauded the initiators of the workshop.
The workshop on peace which is being organized
in collaboration with the Arewa Citizens Action for Change under the auspices
of the United States Institute of Peace equipped the trainees with the
technical knowledge for conflict prevention, analysis and management.
The workshop also stimulated the
trainees to adopt several peace advocacy tools that will enable them prevent
crisis outbreaks within their communities.
