About us

The Centre for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy (CCPPA) began in 2009 as an unregistered non-profit entity. It was known first as Centre for Crisis and Preventive Diplomacy (CCPD). The impetus for the organization was a recognition of the high rate and intractable nature of contemporary conflict formations in Nigeria and other parts of the world. The founders of CCPPA believed that a strong organization could help to support collaborative and, thus, more effective peacebuilding, as well as empower Nigerians to cultivate a peace and democratic culture.

After three years of informal organisational development, the organization was incorporated in April, 2012 as the Centre for Crisis Prevention and Peace Advocacy (CCPPA) It received funding from Premium Professional Consult, enabling it to hire staff, open an office in Kaduna and Abuja and develop programmes. Other small but appreciable means of income came in from charities, membership dues, Board of trustee commitments and contributions by individuals.

CCPPA plays a major role in developing and disseminating innovative approaches to negotiation and conflict management, including collaboration between conflict resolution organizations and organizations in the fields of democratization, human rights, security and economic reconstruction.

We work by identifying fragile societies and regions where peace is threatened, areas of active violence, communities emerging from crisis and striving to fill such gaps by helping to prevent or resolve crisis and facilitate post-conflict peace.

 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To sensitize and propagate the virtues of understanding, tolerance and respect for each others ethnic, religious and cultural differences
  • To actively mediate peace agreements and facilitate post-conflict peace building and reconciliation.
  • To enhance and increase conflict management capacity and working fervently towards realizing the agenda for peace
